Donald J. Trump has been sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday, marking a historic return to the nation’s highest office. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. administered the 35-word presidential oath during a ceremony moved to the Capitol Rotunda due to harsh weather conditions.

Vice President JD Vance was sworn in earlier by Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, signaling the beginning of a new administration that has pledged sweeping changes to the country’s trajectory.

The day’s events began with an unprecedented gesture of unity, as outgoing President Joe Biden and President Trump rode together to the Capitol. Upon their arrival, Mr. Biden greeted Mr. Trump and his wife Melania, saying, “Welcome home.”

In his inaugural address, President Trump struck a populist tone, pledging to return power to the people and prioritize the interests of everyday Americans. He described the ceremony as a turning point, stating, “Today, we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the American People.

Trump outlined a vision that emphasized rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure, protecting American jobs, and reinforcing national sovereignty. Promising a departure from past policies, he declared, “From this day forward, it’s going to be America First.”

He vowed to combat challenges such as poverty, drug abuse, and economic inequality, pledging to bring jobs and prosperity back to American workers. He also reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating radical Islamic terrorism and fostering national unity.

“We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk and no action,” Trump stated, adding, “The time for empty talk is over. Now arrives the hour of action.

In a message of hope, Trump emphasized the need for unity, patriotism, and solidarity among Americans, saying, “When America is united, America is totally unstoppable.” He invoked the Bible, calling for the nation to embrace shared values and work together to achieve greatness.

The inaugural address concluded with Trump’s signature pledge: “Together, We Will Make America Strong Again. We Will Make America Wealthy Again. We Will Make America Proud Again. We Will Make America Safe Again. And, Yes, Together, We Will Make America Great Again.”

As Trump begins his second tenure in the White House, his administration is set to launch a series of executive orders aimed at fulfilling his ambitious agenda. His leadership marks a significant chapter in American history, with promises to reshape the country’s future and restore what he described as the “forgotten dreams” of its people.
