The Nasarawa State High Court in Lafia has accepted additional evidence in the ongoing murder trial of Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member allegedly killed by singer Oluwatimileyin Daniel Ajayi.

At the hearing on Tuesday, Justice Simon Aboki admitted seven new exhibits submitted by the prosecution.

The evidence was presented by a police officer, introduced as a fresh witness in the case.

Among the exhibits was a mobile phone used to record six polythene bags containing dismembered body parts of the deceased.

The prosecution claimed these items were discovered in the defendant’s bathroom and bedroom.

Prosecution counsel Raymond Umaru told the court that the video evidence was crucial to establishing the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.

“This footage provides a clearer picture of what transpired and where the remains were found,” he stated.

Following the submission, the judge adjourned the session until noon to allow the witness to play the video before the court.

The defence team did not object to the admission of the exhibits.

So far, the prosecution has presented four witnesses in the high-profile case. Witnesses have provided testimonies linking the defendant to the crime scene and the discovery of the remains.

The defence counsel, Patrick Eze, maintained that his client was not guilty of the charges.

“We will challenge the evidence presented and prove our client’s innocence,” he told reporters outside the courtroom.

Family members of the deceased were present at the hearing, with some seen visibly emotional as details of the evidence were revealed.

A relative, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed hope for justice. “We just want the truth to come out,” he said.

Justice Aboki scheduled the next hearing for March 25, when further witnesses are expected to testify in the case.
