The National President of the Al-Mushahid Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (AITA), Ambassador Aminu Majidadi, has extended heartfelt commendations to the Nigerian Armed Forces on the occasion of Army Remembrance Day, a solemn day dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of fallen heroes and appreciating the unwavering dedication of the armed forces to the nation.
In his message on behalf of the organization and its staff, Ambassador Majidadi described the Armed Forces as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s unity, security, and sovereignty. He emphasized the significance of remembering the gallant men and women who paid the ultimate price to defend the nation against threats, ensuring the safety of its citizens and territorial integrity.
Ambassador Majidadi acknowledged the immense challenges facing Nigeria’s military, including insurgency, banditry, and other security concerns. He urged the leadership of the Armed Forces to intensify efforts in addressing the root causes of these challenges, including socio-economic inequality, poor governance, and the proliferation of illicit arms.
“Today is not only a day to honor the memories of our fallen heroes but also to reflect on the need for a more strategic and proactive approach to national security. The fight against insecurity must go beyond the battlefield to encompass intelligence, economic reforms, and community engagement,” Ambassador Majidadi said.
He lauded the resilience and professionalism demonstrated by the Armed Forces, particularly in the face of evolving security threats. While recognizing the strides made in counterinsurgency efforts, he called for improved welfare packages for troops, adequate equipment, and psychological support for veterans and families of the fallen.
The AITA President further emphasized the critical role of transparency and accountability in managing defense resources, highlighting that effective utilization of funds meant for defense is essential to building a formidable military force capable of addressing contemporary challenges.
As the nation commemorates this solemn occasion, Ambassador Majidadi reiterated AITA’s commitment to advocating for policies and initiatives that promote peace, justice, and security across Nigeria. He urged all Nigerians to support the Armed Forces by fostering unity, shunning divisive rhetoric, and prioritizing patriotism.
“Let us honor the sacrifices of our heroes not only with words but with actions that strengthen the bonds of our nationhood. May their courage inspire us all to build a Nigeria where peace and security reign supreme,” he said.
