A man identified as Wealth Nnamdi is on the run after allegedly killing his pregnant fiancée, Osasu Isaac, and her three-year-old daughter, Miracle, in Benin, Edo State.

The tragic incident occurred on March 16 at Idiangbona Street in Ovbiogoe Community following a reported domestic dispute between the couple.

A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the couple had been preparing for their traditional and church weddings, scheduled for March 29 and April 6, respectively.

“Osasu Isaac, also known as Mama Halleluyah, had been living with Wealth Nnamdi for over three years. The man moved in with her and her daughter from a previous relationship,” the source said.

The neighbour stated that the couple frequently had arguments, but no one expected it to escalate to a fatal attack.

“They had a shouting match on Sunday, which was not unusual. However, it appears that the argument turned violent, leading to the murder of Osasu and her daughter,” the neighbour added.

Nnamdi reportedly locked the room after committing the crime and fled the area.

Days later, neighbours alerted the police after perceiving a foul odour from the apartment.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Command, Moses Yamu, said investigations had begun.

“The Edo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the gruesome murder of Osasu Isaac and her three-year-old daughter, Miracle,” Yamu stated.

According to the police report, officers from the Ekiadolor Division received a distress call on March 18 from a concerned resident about a suspicious smell from the deceased’s room.

“When officers arrived, they found the room locked from the outside. Upon breaking in, they discovered the decomposing bodies of Osasu and her daughter,” the police statement read.

Authorities revealed that Osasu had suffered a severe head injury, suspected to be a machete wound, while her daughter’s body was found lifeless on the bed.

“All evidence points to her live-in partner, Wealth Nnamdi, who was set to marry her in a few days,” Yamu added.

The suspect remains at large, and police have launched a manhunt to track him down.

“We are making every effort to ensure the suspect is apprehended and brought to justice,” Yamu assured.

The Edo State Police Command has urged members of the public with any useful information regarding Nnamdi’s whereabouts to come forward.
