Osun Govt Unveils ₦427bn Budget for 2025 Fiscal Year

The Osun State Government has provided a detailed breakdown of its ₦427.75 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year, tagged the “Budget of Sustainable Growth and Transformation.”

Speaking at a press briefing in Osogbo, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Maruf Ademola Adeleke, explained that the budget increase was necessary to accommodate the needs of the state’s residents.

“The total budget for 2025 is ₦427,746,925,170,” said Prof. Adeleke. “This includes ₦251.67 billion expected from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), ₦109.87 billion from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), ₦36.20 billion from other capital receipts, and ₦30 billion as the estimated opening balance.”

Recurrent expenditure is projected at ₦236.20 billion, while capital expenditure stands at ₦191.55 billion, maintaining a ratio of 55% to 45%.

Personnel costs, including salaries and social benefits, account for ₦102.90 billion or 24% of the total budget.

The governance and administration sector was allocated ₦42.09 billion for personnel, ₦33.91 billion for overhead, and ₦9.70 million for capital projects.

The education sector received ₦16 billion for personnel, ₦957.07 million for overhead, and ₦3.13 billion for capital expenditure.

In the health sector, ₦1.40 billion was allocated for personnel, ₦245.41 million for overhead, and ₦258.97 million for capital projects. Infrastructure was assigned ₦1.02 billion for personnel, ₦100.10 billion for overhead, and ₦200.82 million for capital expenditure.

Agriculture was allocated ₦720 million for personnel, ₦9.80 million for overhead, and ₦2.10 billion for capital projects.

These allocations reflect the government’s commitment to addressing sector-specific developmental priorities.

“The budget aims to ensure sustainable growth and transformation across critical sectors,” Prof. Adeleke stated.

“This includes investments in education, health, infrastructure, and agriculture to stimulate economic development.”

The Commissioner highlighted the importance of revenue generation to fund the budget effectively.

“We are putting mechanisms in place to ensure a stable revenue stream. Proper implementation and enforcement will be prioritised to achieve our objectives,” he said.

Residents were urged to cooperate with revenue collection agencies to support the government’s development agenda.

The administration also emphasised the need for transparency and accountability in the budget’s implementation.

Prof. Adeleke assured citizens that the government would closely monitor the budget execution to meet its targets.

“We are committed to delivering on our promises and ensuring the budget impacts the lives of our people positively,” he concluded.

The 2025 budget reflects the Osun State Government’s dedication to addressing the needs of its citizens and driving sustainable development across the state.
