…Demands Urgent, Decisive Action from COAS
The Al-Mushahid Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (AITA) has charged the Nigerian military, demanding immediate and decisive action to secure the release of Major General MI Tsiga, who has now spent 39 harrowing days in captivity.
Speaking on behalf of AITA, its National President, Ambassador Aminu Majidadi, decried the protracted inaction surrounding General Tsiga’s abduction, describing it as a blight on Nigeria’s security architecture and an indictment on the nation’s counterterrorism efforts.
“It is beyond comprehension that a senior military officer has remained in the hands of bandits for this long, yet there is no concrete result in securing his release,” Majidadi said. “The Nigerian military must understand that this delay is unacceptable. If the police could swiftly rescue the abducted wife of the former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, then why has General Tsiga not been reunited with his family?”
AITA calls on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) to intensify efforts, deploy all necessary resources, and ensure that General Tsiga is rescued without further delay. The continued captivity of such a high-ranking officer, Majidadi warned, sends a dangerous signal to both criminals and law-abiding citizens.
“The military cannot afford to appear weak in the face of such a challenge. We are tired of hearing excuses; we demand immediate action. The Army must move beyond intelligence gathering and take definitive steps to bring General Tsiga home,” he stated.
AITA further urges heightened synergy among security agencies, stressing that the same urgency and efficiency displayed in previous high-profile rescues must be replicated in this case.
“Nigerians are watching. We cannot allow a situation where those who have sworn to defend our nation become victims of the very insecurity they are meant to combat. The time for talking is over—General Tsiga must be rescued now!” Majidadi concluded.
AITA remains steadfast in advocating for transparency, accountability, and justice, emphasizing that the safety and security of every Nigerian civilian or militarymust remain a top priority.
