Aminu Majidadi implore’s Nigerian youths and young people to stay politically active, but carefully and lawfully, during periods of campaigns, defections (“cross carpeting”), and political tension, the safest and smartest approach is to participate without becoming tools for violence or illegal activity.

Here are important precautions you the Nigerian youths should observe:

1. Avoid political violence
2. Do not carry weapons, intimidate opponents, destroy posters, or participate in clashes.
3. Violence during politics can lead to arrest, injury, criminal records, or even death, while the politicians involved often move on safely.
4. Verify information before sharing
5. False allegations, fake news, edited videos, and inciting messages can create legal trouble.
6. Be careful on social media; some posts may amount to defamation, cyber stalking, hate speech, or incitement under Nigerian law.
7. Know your rights during protests or rallies
8. Peaceful assembly is a constitutional right, but protests should remain nonviolent and organized.
9. Avoid blocking emergency services, vandalism, or confrontations with security agencies.
10. Do not accept illegal political assignments

In conclusion to the admonition, encouragement and motivation, my special advice to all Nigerian Youths and the electorates, as Nigeria moves through another electioneering season. All youths and electorates are strongly encouraged to uphold peace, unity and responsible conduct before, during and after the elections. Young people must understand that no political ambition is worth the loss of human lives, destruction of property, or the future of the nation. Politicians may disagree today and reconcile tomorrow, but the consequences of violence remain with ordinary citizens and their communities.
Electorates are equally encouraged to exercise their civic rights responsibly by voting peacefully and respecting the outcome of lawful electoral processes while using legitimate channels to address grievances where necessary.
Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians, and the responsibility of protecting democracy, peace, and national unity rests on every citizen. The strength of a nation is not measured by violence during elections, but by the maturity, discipline, and patriotism demonstrated by its people.
