King Charles III Credits Davido For Loving Pidgin English

British monarch King Charles III has revealed that Nigerian music star Davido sparked his love for Pidgin English.

The King made this revelation on his new Apple Music show, The King’s Music Room, which premiered on Monday, 10 March 2025.

Charles III expressed a desire to speak Pidgin during his next visit to Nigeria, thanks to his growing appreciation for Afrobeats music.

“Davido has made me love Pidgin language. I would like to speak it the next time I visit Nigeria,” the King stated.

The monarch praised the global rise of Afrobeats, noting how it has helped popularise Nigerian culture and language worldwide.

“Thanks to Afrobeats, Pidgin is becoming more popular around the world,” he added.

King Charles also mentioned Kante, Davido’s hit song featuring Fave, as one of his favourite tracks.

Following the King’s remarks, Davido shared a clip of the interview on his Instagram story, expressing gratitude with a shout-out to the royal family.
