The younger brother of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has been arrested along with his friend, Ibrahim Koleosho, also called King White, by operatives of the Nigeria Police.
The arrest took place on Wednesday outside the Magistrates’ Court in Ogba, Lagos State, shortly after they attended legal proceedings related to a phone transaction.
According to reports, the case involved a phone that Mohbad’s brother, Adura, had sold to a buyer identified as Damola Ayinde.
A previous petition filed by actor Yomi Fabiyi on 13 December 2024 accused Adura of initiating an Instagram chat claiming to have video evidence of how Mohbad died.
Fabiyi alleged that Adura had demanded ₦3 million in Bitcoin in exchange for the video, a claim that was widely shared on social media.
In response, Adura denied the allegations, stating that the messages were sent from Ayinde, who had purchased his old phone.
A forensic investigation was conducted, but the court has yet to make a final ruling on the matter.
After the arrest, Mohbad’s mother, Abosede, released a viral video where she was seen crying and pleading for information on her son’s whereabouts.
In the video, she alleged that Yomi Fabiyi and another individual, Sam Jojo, were responsible for her son’s detention.
“Please help me, Nigerians. Yomi Fabiyi and Sam Jojo have taken my son. I don’t know where they are taking him to,” she said in Yoruba.
She further claimed that her son was unwell and should not have been arrested under such conditions.
A family member, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that the arrest might have been linked to a verbal exchange between Koleosho and Fabiyi.
“We don’t know where they have taken Adura, but we can confirm that Koleosho was arrested immediately after the court session,” the family source said.
Attempts to contact Fabiyi for comments were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or messages.
A police source confirmed that the arrest was carried out by operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, not by the Lagos State Police Command.
“Yes, they were arrested by Zone 2 officers. It was not a Lagos State Command operation,” the police source said.
When asked about the reason for the arrest, the source directed journalists to the zonal police spokesperson, Ayuba Umma.
Efforts to reach the police spokesperson for further details proved unsuccessful as she did not respond to calls or messages.
Adura had previously demanded a public apology from Fabiyi, Ayinde, and others, alleging that his TikTok account had been hacked to implicate him.
In December, he filed a ₦1 billion lawsuit against them for defamation, evidence tampering, and fraudulent allegations.
The case continues to generate public interest as legal proceedings move forward in court.
