The management of the Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State has debunked rumours of a fire outbreak on its campus.
Debunking the news, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, in a statement issued by the university Public Relations Officer, Adetunji Adeleye revealed that the students and their hostel was not endangered by the fire which was a case of bush burning near an isolated bamboo forest.
Prof Akindele also revealed that the fire was promptly quenched by stakeholders in the University community and the State Fire Service.
Expressing displeasure over the fake news, Prof Akindele insisted that there was no explosion of any transformer as there was no transformer at the site of the fire incident.
He said, “the fire was a case of bush burning near an isolated bamboo forest which was promptly quenched by stakeholders in the University community and the State Fire Service.
“There was no explosion of any transformer as there was no transformer at the site of the fire incident.”
He explained that the university primed public health and safety of its stakeholders as very strategic, and this has resulted in the acquisition of a large quantity of fire extinguishers.
Allaying the fear of stakeholders, he advised people to always cross-check the fact in order to avoid being misled by rumour-mongers whose businesses are to cause disaffection and destabilisation

Earlier, information about town had stated that there was a fire outbreak that threatened lives and property on campus around 8: 45 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025.
