Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has criticised socialite Sophia Egbueje for flaunting her newly acquired Lamborghini amidst ongoing controversy over her alleged relationship with Nigerian music star Burna Boy.
The issue began after leaked audio surfaced last week in which Egbueje accused Burna Boy of having an affair with her and reneging on a promise to buy her the luxury car.
Following the leak, the socialite posted pictures and videos of her new Lamborghini on social media, claiming she had bought it herself.
Her display of wealth sparked mixed reactions online, with some congratulating her and others questioning the source of her income.
Among the critics was Patrick Doyle, who took to social media to express his disapproval.
“She boasted about the value of her wristwatch and flaunted a 600 million Naira car.
The combined value of both items is in the range of 650 to 750 million Naira,” Doyle wrote.
He continued: “Some half-wits were impressed and effusively congratulated her as she smiled and flaunted both items, as if we hadn’t heard about her shameful means of livelihood.”
Doyle’s comments appeared to reference the allegations made against Egbueje regarding her alleged relationship with Burna Boy.
While Egbueje has maintained that she bought the Lamborghini independently, speculation remains widespread.
The actor also criticised those who celebrated Egbueje’s display of wealth, suggesting that her extravagant lifestyle overshadowed more pressing societal issues.
“Meanwhile, I can bet that there are members of her extended family who are going through a tough time,” Doyle remarked.
Despite the backlash, Egbueje has remained defiant, continuing to post images of her luxury purchases. She has yet to respond directly to Doyle’s criticism.
Burna Boy, on his part, has not publicly addressed the allegations made by Egbueje.
The singer’s silence has further fuelled online discussions around the controversy.
As the debate rages on, the situation has sparked conversations on social media about wealth, influence, and personal responsibility among Nigeria’s celebrities and socialites.
