The Lagos State Police Command has sealed a church following the alleged killing of a Lagos State University, LASU, graduate, Adedamola Ogunbode.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the action on Monday during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
According to Hundeyin, the church was sealed to prevent possible attacks after reports surfaced of plans to burn the building in retaliation.
“The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it down out of vengeance, and we don’t want that to happen,” he stated.
He added that the church remains a suspected crime scene and may be revisited multiple times as the investigation continues.
“It is still a suspected crime scene. We still need to go over it, and we may need to revisit the scene multiple times to gather evidence,” Hundeyin explained.
The police spokesman assured the public that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
So far, three suspects have been arrested and are currently in police custody in connection with the case.
Hundeyin emphasised that the investigation was ongoing and urged the public to remain patient while the authorities work to uncover the facts.
The alleged killing of Ogunbode, a 28-year-old graduate, has sparked widespread concern, with many awaiting further details from law enforcement.
