President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), effective immediately. This follows the pre-retirement leave of the incumbent AGF, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein.

December 10, 2024.
The appointment ensures a smooth transition in the management of Nigeria’s treasury and supports the ongoing implementation of the current administration’s treasury policy reforms.
Mr. Ogunjimi, a seasoned civil servant with over 30 years of experience in financial management, is the most senior director at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF). He has held key roles, including Director of Funds at the OAGF and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A chartered accountant, certified fraud examiner, chartered stockbroker, and chartered security and investment specialist, Mr. Ogunjimi holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting.
In the statement, President Tinubu expressed confidence in Mr. Ogunjimi’s ability to effectively manage the office, highlighting his wealth of experience and competence in ensuring the continued success of Nigeria’s treasury management.
President Tinubu also commended Dr. Madein for her dedicated service to the nation. Dr. Madein, who has reached the statutory retirement age, will retire on March 7, 2025.
